What is SmartLipo and How Does It Work?

Laser lypolysis,or laser-assisted liposculpture, is a new-generation procedure which enables the treatment of cellulite and body adiposities through the laser’s ability to dissolve and liquefy redundant body fat with heat. Laser-assisted liposculpture deals successfully with problem areas of high fibrous content, or delicate tissue due to their extremely thin fat layer, which are very difficult to treat by traditional methods. It also achieves a skin retraction we would not achieve through other procedures.

Smart lipo is a new approach to liposuction surgery. Instead of forcefully sucking the fat cells out, the fat is actually liquified and vaporized with a laser. The laser fiber is only 300-600 microns and it is passed through a 1 mm cannula. Because of the small size, the incision made for the procedure is so small that stitches are not required. The incision is the same size as a needle to draw blood.

What is the cost of SmartLipo?

The cost of SmartLipo is the same as normal liposuction, and depends on the number of areas involved. On average, it starts at about $2,500 to $4,000 for one area. Additional areas are about $1,500-2,000.

Where is SmartLipo performed?

Laser assisted-liposculpture (laserlipolysis) is performed in a procedure room at the office or at the hospital, under local or regional anesthesia.

How long does the SmartLipo procedure take?

Time required may vary from one operation to another, depending on the amount of fat to extract. On average, it takes about 45 – 60 minutes per area.

What are the advantages of Smartlipo?

With laser lipolysis, the cannula is much smaller, so it is much less traumatic. In addition, since the blood vessels are cauterized at the same time, the amount of bruising and swelling is significantly decreased. People can go back to work sooner. With less downtime and less pain, it can be performed on smaller areas as an outpatient without traditional general anesthesia. This makes it ultimate “lunchtime procedure”
