New Jersey Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery
A lower abdominoplasty, or a mini tummy tuck, is a smaller version of traditional tummy tuck surgery. It is designed to improve the shape of the lower portion of the abdomen, from the bellybutton down. It may include just skin tightening, or it can be combined with tightening of the muscles of the lower abdomen. What is the mini tummy tuck procedure?
The incision for a mini tummy tuck is usually similar to a traditional abdominoplasty, or slightly smaller. In patients who previously had c-section surgery, the incision is slightly longer than their c-section scar. The skin is lifted up to the level of the belly button. The underlying muscle may be tightened at the same time. The extra skin is pulled down and removed for a tighter, slimmer look. Stretch marks in that area can also be removed with the extra skin.
A mini tummy tuck, or mini abdominoplasty, is designed to improve the shape of the lower portion of the abdomen. It can be combined with liposuction of the lower and upper abdomen. For those patients with good quality upper abdominal skin and just have a small “pouch” in the lower portion of their abdomen, this can be a perfect procedure.
In most cases, a mini tummy tuck, or a mini abdominoplasty procedure, does not require general anesthesia and can be performed with local anesthesia and sedation on an outpatient basis.
The latest advancement in the mini tummy tuck technique is the NO DRAIN mini abdominoplasty procedure, where the surgery is performed without the placement of the drains.
During your initial visit with Dr. Volshteyn, it can be determined if you are a candidate for the newer no-drain technique.
